Last Fall, I had the honor of photographing McKenzie Templin’s senior portraits, and I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate her as she begins a new chapter. McKenzie is a young woman whose dedication, kindness, and drive make her a standout in every community she touches.

From the first time I met McKenzie through the local horse community in San Angelo, Texas, it was clear she was someone special. Anyone who knows McKenzie knows she isn’t afraid of hard work, whether that’s in the show ring, the classroom, or through her involvement in organizations that have shaped her into the person she is today.

A Legacy of Leadership: FFA and 4-H

McKenzie has been deeply involved in both FFA (Future Farmers of America) and 4-H, two programs that emphasize leadership, responsibility, and community service. Her time in these organizations has given her opportunities to learn skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

FFA, in particular, has been a big part of McKenzie’s life. Through it, she developed leadership abilities, learned the value of teamwork, and gained hands-on agricultural knowledge. She’s an FFA alumna now, but the lessons she’s taken with her—about dedication, perseverance, and service—will continue to influence her life moving forward.

4-H has also played a big role in shaping McKenzie’s character. From livestock projects to community service, McKenzie has embraced every opportunity to grow and contribute. The discipline required to balance her commitments to both FFA and 4-H, all while excelling in school, is nothing short of inspiring.

Growing Through the Horse Community

Our paths crossed thanks to the local horse community here in San Angelo, which has always been such a close-knit group. Horses have a way of bringing people together, and with McKenzie, it was no different. Her love for horses reflects her determination and her respect for the responsibility that comes with caring for them. It was through this shared passion that I first got to know her, and watching her grow through the years has been a joy.

For many young people, the horse community is more than just riding—it’s about building lifelong friendships, learning patience, and developing confidence. McKenzie has done all of that and more, becoming a role model for younger riders who look up to her dedication and kindness.

Capturing Her Senior Year

When it came time to take McKenzie’s senior photos, I knew it would be a special session. Senior portraits are about more than just capturing a face—they tell a story about who someone is at such a meaningful point in life.

McKenzie brought her natural energy and confidence to her shoot, and the results were a reflection of her vibrant personality. Her photos radiate the warmth and positivity that she shares with those around her. It was a privilege to help capture this milestone in her life and to know that these images will always serve as a reminder of the exciting season she’s stepping into.

Looking Ahead: Hardin-Simmons University

Now, McKenzie is preparing to attend Hardin-Simmons University (HSU), where she’ll continue her education and pursue her dreams. Transitioning from high school to college is a big step, but if anyone is ready for the challenge, it’s McKenzie.

HSU is known for its strong academic programs and welcoming community, and I have no doubt McKenzie will thrive there. The values and work ethic she’s carried with her through FFA, 4-H, and the horse community will serve her well as she takes on new opportunities and responsibilities in college life.

A Bright Future

As McKenzie moves forward, I know she’ll continue to make a positive impact on everyone she meets. She embodies the qualities we hope to see in the next generation: integrity, compassion, perseverance, and a willingness to work hard for her goals.

It has been an absolute honor to not only photograph McKenzie’s senior portraits but also to witness her journey through the years. She represents the very best of San Angelo’s youth—rooted in community, committed to her passions, and eager to embrace the future.

Congratulations, McKenzie! The next chapter of your story is just beginning, and I can’t wait to see all the incredible things you will accomplish at Hardin-Simmons University and beyond.
